This December, Self-Publishers of Chicago (SPoC) pays tribute to a different kind of folk hero: the Sales Associate. Join us at Uncharted Books on 12/22 for an evening of retail-Inspired horror stories, tall tales, and filthy slander– all reported directly from the trenches.

In the spirit of commerce, we’ll also be selling copies of a collaborative zine Tribute to the Sales Associate: A Folk Hero for the 21st Century, featuring the written work that night’s performers (and others).
It’s not too late to be featured in our zine Tribute to the Sales Associate. Submit your story to SPoC by December 16th. We’ll take drawings, lists scrawled onto receipt paper, and images of other artifacts found along the way. The stranger the better.
Free jug wine at 7pm. Show starts at 7:30pm.

Calling All SPOColytes
Retail-Inspired Stories Needed for Tuesday 12/22 show at Uncharted Books.
Have you ever worked a cash register? Handled a price gun? Ever had to wear an apron, a visor, a walkie talkie, or tuck a polo into ill-fitting khakis? How many hours of computer training have you logged? Have you ever experienced the unique hell of a Black Friday morning?
In the month of December, SPOC turns its attention to a different kind of folk hero: the Sales Associate. We welcome your Retail-Inspired horror stories, tall tales, and filthy slander– report life in the trenches, so that the rest of the world may know our struggle.
We’re looking for 6-8 performers, each clocking about 10 minutes. (2,000 words or 8 double-spaced pages). Free jug wine at 7pm, show starts at 7:30pm.

Can you believe it? We survived the terrible twos. Bring in our third year of life with a jubilant birthday reading with a partypartyparty theme. Celebrate with us at Uncharted Books (2620 N. Milwaukee Ave.) on Sunday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. It’s all about party times, party cats, party hats, celebration stations and what not.

Hey there lovebbugs! TMRW 2/26: Don’t miss out. It’s the Anti-Valentine Heart Wrencher Night @ Uncharted Books (2620 N Milwaukee Ave) at 7:30. We’ll be debuting our brand new Worst Breakup EVER zine as part of the event. A mere $3 gets you tales of woe, heartache and thank-God-I-dumped-that-turditude.

MIDNIGHT TONIGHT 2/15 is zero hour for submissions for the Worst Breakup Ever zine. Prose should be 500-1200ish words, image files should fit into the standard half 8 1/2 by 11 zine size and be (preferably) JPEGs. No PDFs puhlease. Send submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
