Hey all you crazy writers and zinesters out there! We’ve extended our submission deadline for our Chicago dictionary zine from 2/26 to 3/2 so you can get us as many broad-shouldered terms as possible!
Remember, we’re looking for spunky, witty, Chicago-centric words and phrases written in the style of a dictionary definition. We’re also seeking dictionary style graphics/illustrations to accompany the entries.
Send us your writing in a Word doc and your images as a jpeg. Kindly send all your submissions to email@example.com. You have ’til Midnight on Sunday March, 2. Now……go!
Make great haste, for our COLLAGE ZINE deadline is only a day away. We will be taking submissions until MIDNIGHT tomorrow evening, 2/21.
Please be sure to lay your collage out on either half or an entire sheet of standard size 8 1/2 by 11 paper to accommodate our layout! Send us a jpg or tif of your piece or simply come by our meeting tomorrow at Nicki’s place at 7:30 p.m. to drop it off.
E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to send us your submission or to get more information about tomorrow’s meeting place. Have fun peeling all of that Elmer’s off your paws.
Oh, how the time flies when you’re trapped inside avoiding the winter mix of ice, rain, snow and smatterings of deadly sunshine. There’s merely ONE WEEK, (actually slightly less) to submit to our COLLAGE ZINE. Sigh. But, hey, that’s plenty of time.
Send us your pieces (either half of an 8 1/12 by 11 or a whole sheet) by 11:45 p.m. this THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21. The subject is up to you: children eating balloons, small animals in combat gear, the subject of sadness in France, dancing fathers and daughters, anything.
Send your jpg or tif file to SELFPUBLISHERSOFCHICAGO@GMAIL.COM or bring us your piece to scan at our next meeting. Check out more deets on the book of faces.
Our pals at Back to Print are putting together another project, this time all about the universal topic of family. This Wednesday 1/16 at 7 p.m. they’ll be gathering at the Owl in Logan Square to bounce ideas back and forth. They’re also working on a catalog drive. That means bring any old Sears catalogs of families in matching denim or any other gems you can scrounge up. RSVP here and get more info.
What’s says zines more than collage? What says fun more than SPOC? In anticipation of Chicago Zine Fest on March 8-9, we’re putting together a zine of nothing but collage.
Here’s the deal. Get yourself an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. Fold in half. Either use half or the whole sheet to make one or two pages for our zine. Make it analog style, with actual paper, or not if that’s limiting. Feel free to design your page digitally as well.
Send your submission as a jpg or tif to email@example.com by THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21 at midnight, or just attend our meeting that evening and give it to us then. We’ll be hosting a collage-a-thon in the near future to motivate you to get your page done so stay tuned.
Here comes our second zine! TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23 is our deadline.
The subject? All matters spooky, ghostly, pumpkiny or generally Halloween-y. We’ll take po-ems, stories, experiential accounts, artwork, illustration, whatever ya got.
Stay tuned for a late October spookish SPOC reading night to accompany the zine. RSVP to our Facebook submission page!
Send your goods to selfpublishersofchicago@gmail. The zine will be the standard, folded 8 1/2 by 11 variety.
