Like most summer weekends in Chicago, this one has big things in store.
On Saturday and Sunday SPOCsters will be mingling with the finest librarians the nationwide at the American Library Association‘s convention at McCormick Place. Along with local zinesters like Liz Mason and Eric Bartholomew, SPOC will sell its wares to the bespectacled bookish masses in the Zine Pavilion. Come see us from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on both days, 6/29 and 6/30.
After the frenzy of fluttering pages, come see us in Pilsen for Words & Sound II, an experimental collision of literary and sound performances. Along with folks from the Landline, we’re showcasing a variety of writers and musicians performing simultaneously. That’s right. It’s a sonic and literary jumble of awesomeness. SPOCsters Meghan McGrath and Nicki Yowell are among the cast of stellar artists and readers. The night starts at 5 p.m. with salads and cold eats. Readings commence at 6 p.m. Head on over to 2319 W. 19th Street to check it out.
